We are delighted to welcome artists and visitors to the 2026 plein air festival in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

From October 2–15, artists from across the region and beyond will paint on location throughout the Driftless area, capturing its landscapes, river views, and historic architecture through original works created directly from observation. All artwork must be dropped off on October 15 and prepared according to the guidelines, ready for exhibition.

The public is invited to experience the creative process throughout the event. On October 10, Artist Demonstrations will take place in a scenic park setting, where artists will share techniques and paint outdoors during the day.

On the morning of October 16, the Quick Paint Competition will be held at a local park, with participating artists completing a painting in just two hours.

The festival culminates that evening with the Opening Reception and Awards Night Show at 6 PM at Gallery 1802. Guests can view freshly completed paintings, meet the artists, and celebrate the creativity and energy of the event.

Sales continue on October 17 at Gallery 1802, offering collectors and visitors an additional opportunity to view and purchase original works created during the festival.
